HELP! NEED CHOCOLATE FROSTING RECIPE!

I am making a cake for a co-worker's birthday for Wednesday the 24th. She wants chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. I have the devil's food cake recipe. Does anyone have a yummy chocolate frosting recipe?

Thanks!

Hi Michele,
I really like the Hershey's chocolate frosting recipe, but I'm not sure if that's what you are looking for. I like milk chocolate frosting, though. Martha Stewart has a recipe for frosting for a devil's food cake, but it looks a little hard to me (and made with a lot of oil!!). You may want to check it out, though. Here's the links:

http://www.hersheys.com/recipes/recipes/detail.asp?id=184 (you have to scroll down for the frosting recipe)

(if you can't get that link to work, try "googling" Mrs. Milman's chocolate frosting)

Hope one of those helps!! Good luck - I sure wish I'd worked with someone like you when I was in the working world!! :)

This is the recipe I usually use for Chocolate frosting. I hope it helps!

Ingredients:

2 cups butter (no substitutes), softened
9 cups confectioners' sugar
2 1/2 cups baking cocoa
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup milk

In a large mixing bowl, cream butter. Gradually beat in confectioners' sugar, cocoa and vanilla. Add enough milk until frosting reaches spreading consistency.

I forgot to add that if you are only making a 9" cake, you can half the recipe. Good luck!

I agree on the Hershey's cocoa frosting. That's what I always make, but it turns out a little too dark if you add as much cocoa as the recipe calls for. I usually add a few Tablespoons instead of 2/3 of a cup!
